Kekistan Killing

Kekistan is a fictitious nation created in the online culture popular on 4chan, 8chan, and other internet sites dominated by edgy meme culture. The branding is especially popular among young white boys and men who are particularly succeptible to some of the more vulgar and violent vitriol from the far-right. Kekistan flags have been seen at a number of political events throughout the country over the past few years. The culture exhibits a disturbing lack of empathy, fully on display in this instance. Gregory Ramos is accused of killing his mother over a dispute about grades and enlisting his friends to move her body and cover up the killing. Despite being minors, the depravity of the incident has led prosecutors to try them as adults. In Facebook photos, Ramos is seen visiting Trump Tower and has a Kekistan flag as his header image.
